Baby Update

We haven't decided on a name yet, but I do have an update on the baby. As you might know, I go to the doctor twice a week. Every time I go, I get a "light" ultrasound and a NST. The "light" ultrasound measures (in centimeters) the fluid around the baby. Most pregnant women have at least 15 cm, when I first went moved to Vegas, the fluid around my baby was around 5 cm. That was at 25 weeks. Now at 33 weeks, my fluid has been steady (knock on wood) at 10 cm. So we are good with that part of the check up. If it goes below 5 cm, I get checked in to hospital.

After the bi-weekly ultrasound, I have a NST- Non stress test. This monitors that baby's heart rate and contraction (if there are any). My doctor likes to see accelerations from the baseline. Her heart rate is usually around 150-155 and accelerate to around 170-175 then come back down. Today, I had to go in twice for a NST. Her heart rate was right around 155, but she wasn't accelerating enough. They sent me home to eat lunch. They said sometimes this helps. Luckily it did. If it didn't, I would have been sent to the hospital for prolong monitoring. Also, the NST helps to ensure the baby isn't under stress or going into distress. I think many women get these done once or twice in the pregnancy.

Last week (32 weeks), we had a "full" ultrasound. At that ultrasound, they measure growth and development. Her head was right on schedule!! This is no surprise being the baby is an Armstrong! The rest of her growth is behind, but still growing. Her stomach measured at 27 weeks. The doctor wasn't worried about this as half of the insides are outside. Her limbs were also measuring smaller, but had grown since the last growth ultrasound.

I am still on bed rest and drinking a gallon of water day. My bed rest hasn't been as bad as I first thought it would be. I still can get up and get ready. I just most of my day "resting" on the couch. I spend most of my day blog stocking, facebooking and cruising the net!
