Baby #2

When I got pregnant with this baby, I was SO worried about the baby having some type of birth defect. While I was pregnant with Avery, I saw a two OBs, two genetic counselors and two perinatologists, all 6 told me the same thing- gastroschisis is a random birth defect. It doesn't raise our risk of other children being born with a birth defect. Even being told this numerous times, I was still so nervous for this pregnancy. (The truth is, I will be nervous for every pregnancy.)  I elected to return to my perinatologist, who is the best doctor in the whole world. Honestly, Dr. Wilkes is wonderful! What a blessing it has been that 1- my doctor will allow me to return, even if I am not considered "high risk" and 2- my insurance approved all my visits!

Since my last visit, I have been taking zofran. It is amazing how much a little pill can help. When I was pregnant with Avery, I was throwing up 4-5 times a day. I was feeling good to keep at least one meal down. But on the new meds, I usually throw up no more than once a day! It feel like a new woman. I am 13 weeks along and I am hoping that the morning sickness ends soon. (With the little peanut, it lasted until 18 weeks.)
One major blessing of visiting the perinatologist, I get to see our little one at every visit. At my last visit, I had a full growth ultrasound. I heard the best news, the stomach was fully closed!! No gastroschisis!! The ultrasound tech was 95% sure that we are have a BOY! All along that is what I thought I was having, but I was nice to receive confirmation. I am excited for a little boy, but don't know a thing about boys! I am going to miss all the sweet hair bows and ribbons.

I know just how you feel! I was so nervous that this new baby would have a heart defect just like Abbie, but boy is it such a relief to hear that everything is healthy and normal!! Congrats!

I love it! I am glad everything is going great! I would be paranoid too! Lets face it, I am ALWAYS paranoid!! Everything will work out perfectly! Lets just hope you make it to the hospital and poor Josh doesn't have to deliver that little guy at home, or worse in the car! How long was Avery's delivery three hours from the time your water broke? My time with Kael was cut down more than 75% so....that makes yours a little of a half hour!! Ha Ha!! I hope not for your sake...but you were strong and had a natural birth...you can do it again right? Ha ha!! If you can...get the drugs, it is MUCH better! Anyways, I am so excited for you guys. It is great to have two little ones!! Congratulations!!

That means I am jealous of every moment that I know you will be done with pregnancy while I am exploding come the end of April. And boys are great. Low maintenance.:) Good luck and I hope the sickness ends soon!
