We have been pretty sick at our house for the past couple of weeks. It all started 2.5 weeks ago with Avery. She started coughing. Once I hear that awful noise, I know it will be here to stay for a couple of weeks (at least). For the first week, it sound just like her normal hacking cough. But during the second week it changed. It sound like she was going to cough up a lung-literally!
Her dr (who I love btw), gave her some medicine to break it up and sent us on our way. The medicine was a miracle worker (or so I thought). After the first couple of days, her cough was all but gone!! Parker started to pull at his ears. He's working on getting more teeth so I gave it a couple of days. Last weekend, he started to wake up during the night. I knew something was wrong. Monday morning we headed to dr again. Two ear infections and some medicine, we were on our way.
Monday night (the 13th) I went to a friend's house for a little bachelor night. (I'm embarrassed to admit that I still watch that show. I loathe Ben. Honestly, he disgusts me. I only go for the company!) I got home around 11:30. But 12:30, Avery was in our room. I knew something was wrong. I turned to Josh and said "she can't breathe." Josh got up with her. She started "barking." This was my first time hearing the croup cough. Yuck. One I will NEVER forget. We gave her a couple of breathing treatments and a steam shower. Nothing seemed to help. By 4:30, we decided she needed more help.
We arrived at the ER. I'm sure I was as white as a ghost-which isn't too much different than my usual color. Luckily the ER was totally empty. They got us right back. Avery was still having a hard time breathing. They gave her an oral steroid and another breathing treatment. Finally she had some relief. We got home around 6:15, Avery told me she wasn't tired. I sent her to her room to read her books. I fell right to sleep. Parker was up at 7:15. Josh got up and went to school.
We headed back to the dr for the 3rd time in week! She apologized for not catching it the day before. Silly Dr she didn't even listen to her the day before! Turns out Avery has strep and a gross cough.
Avery and Parker are still sick. We haven't had any more scary episodes since! Thank goodness! Avery still has a gross cough and Parky a runny noise and small cough. The great news is my dad and mom are coming to visit today! It's also my dad's birthday!!

I'm glad things are looking up! The part where Avery said she wasn't tired made me laugh. She's so funny. Although, I'm sure it wasn't funny at the time.
Yahoo I can comment on these now :) :) I hope little peanut feels better :) love you
I've been at drs three times this week too! I'm surprised we didn't run into each other:) Today they told me one of my babies has croup. Oh joy!
Oh my goodness, all of the worst kid illnesses in such a short period of time!! That croup is a bugger. Owen had that once this winter already and was given steroids, both injection and orally which worked miraculously. I am glad you have parents in town, I hope you all get more rest!!
