Sleep or lack of

Avery has decided that she no longer likes to sleep through the night... Long nights turn into longer days which lead to one unhappy mama. What do I do? She has been sleeping through the night for the past 1.5 months. Then last week she totally turned. I'm totally lost.

Also, I started Ave on cereal. Boy, she sure doesn't like it. Any tips??? Here are some cute pics of her "eating" her cereal. I look forward to your wise tips!

We had Kes visiting last week while Jana underwent more cancer treatments in Vegas. It was fun to have him here.

Oh, my gosh, Hil! She is just gorgeous!! I know some babies really dont like cereal. JJ liked it better when I mixed it with apple juice...but some babies just never aquire a taste for it. And can you blame them? Have you tried it? Its nasty haha!! Good luck! Sorry about the not sleeping through the night. I wish I could help you there. Good luck and love ya!

I say skip the rice cereal. Jack hated it so we went straight to veggies, then fruits. You could try mixing it with mashed bananas and see if she'll eat it then.

sleeping...no advice here. my 2.5 y/o has decided he doesn't want to sleep through the night anymore either. good luck.

The baby bananas were so popular with all of the kids but me. Maybe Avery will like them as much as you did. Although, they were Alex and Lauren's bananas...

our kids liked it once we thickened it a bit, they didn't like the idea of drinking from a spoon. It took Micah forever to eat food though so it might just take some time. Sleep is so different for every baby. Hope it's just a phase and you get some more zzzz soon

Oh, I agree with Adrienne, JJ also did better when it was thicker, too. Apple juice and thick and he eats it :)

Hey...my tip is also: thicken it. You can buy rice cereal w/bananas or mixed fruit too. Does she prefer it warmer? Or cooler? I can't believe she's getting so big! I look forward to seeing her again!

Sorry we couldn't make it last weekend. It turned out to be a good thing we stayed home. We're planning on making our way up at the end of May.

Hilary-
Darling baby!
Caden went through/is going through the same thing with sleeping. He'll go through spurts where he's waking up at night. I think we're finally going to break down and let him cry it out...if I can!
We had to add sugar to Cade's cereal, then fruit juice, then fruit, now he'll do vegetables, or just eat it plain.
Keep posting pictures!

Hey! Looks like everyone gave you great advice! Nathan never ate cereal or oatmeal :) Like some others have said you could mix it with that banana baby food and see if she likes it then! Sleeping thing...for Nathan we would feed him, keep him awake for awhile (play, bath, change his diaper), and then put him down. I don't know though. Good luck!

this might sounds strange, but i have heard it works sometimes the babies just don't like the feel of the spoon. you can try getting her a toy she likes to put in her mouth, put some cereal on it and let her just play. this way she can get used to the taste. but....like the others said, maybe just making it more flavorful will be good!

Hil -
Such a sweet little girl! I loved the video of her laughing - it brought joy to my heart! I love it! My favorite part was watching Josh - he was so excited! How fun.
Do you have the book: "Healthy Sleep, Happy Child"? If not, I highly recommend it - it's great for this age when just aren't sure how to deal with things.
Your doing a great job!

Goodness Avery is beautiful!!! And you look absolutely fabulous too! London takes cereal better when it is thicker and warmer, and she also likes it much much more if I mix it or alternate bites with bananas or applesauce, etc. to give it some flavor :) I don't know anything about sleep other than I take it when I can get it... :) Hope that helps! Good luck! Hang in there!
