I'm too confused to answer. But I will say the Spring Cleaning/Home Repair bug has bit us too. It's fun but I'm tired of my house looking like a construction zone! Such is the life huh? Good luck!
I like 2 better. Mostly because 1 looks a little too red. That may be the picture quality coming through on my end. Unless you're going to change your cabinets eventually too? Are you guys installing it in just the kitchen or in the family area as well? Good luck. I love redecorating. Not that ever done it...

I think 2. But its hard to tell from pics. 2 looks like a more classic wood, which I think you might be happier with.
