I love this picture of Avery! But what I don't LOVE is every morning, without fail, she wakes up at 6:00 am. She doesn't cry, she just talks and talks. At first I thought if we just left her in there for a little bit, she would go back to sleep. Nope, she gets louder and louder! It doesn't matter what time we put her to bed, she still wakes up at 6:00...must take after her dad!
Any suggestions to get a baby to sleep longer?
**I put up black-out shades as well...I thought that would help.
***I can put her to bed anytime between 7:00 and 10:00...it doesn't seem to make a difference!

I wish. We're waking at 5:30. I think it's the sun. Time to buy black out shades. All this crazy sun.
PS It is a very cute picture of Avery! Look at those cheeks!
Such a darling picture of her!! I love it!! She is just so dang cute!! JJ sleeps til around 7:30/8:00 his room is pretty dark though cuz I bought dark curtains that block out light, dont know if that helped or not, though.
What time does she go to bed? Lex sleeps till 7-8ish.
I wish my alarm clock was that cute. Does she do her "regular" voice or her "mermaid" voice?
Kade did the same thing as a baby...and still does, and since it didn't matter, I put him to bed at 7. Then I could get some free time.
Like Megan, we have problems with the sun. The earlier and earlier it rises, so do they. ALL of them. Not just Kade. So I feel your pain. And blackout shades don't work as hot as you think they should.
my kids did the same thing and nothing worked... eventually they started waking up later (slowly first a few minutes later each week and now it's about 7 and sometimes even later) they both go to bed around 7pm
HEY! i just had to tell you that your baby is so adorable!
o no!! i am not a morning person and would not handle that one well. black out shades sound like a great idea to me.. maybe some white noise?? ps.. i think i saw your parents and siblings at walgreens the other day getting passport photos... weird that i recognized them... your little sister (im assuming thats who it was).. looks exactly like you. o and another ps... Avery is just about he most adorable little girl ever! i think listening to her talk in her room at 6am would be entertaining:)
Wait, Josh gets up early?! When did that development happen? ;)
What a cutie!! I agree - a very cute alarm clock.
Here's what we have done and it seems to work, but every baby is different - so you never know:
1. Put them to bed EARLY - like 7:30 (this seems counter intuitive to put them to bed earlier when you want them to sleep later - but it really does work)....
2. Just let her stay in her bed and chat with herself until she starts to cry. Sometimes they realize it sin't worth waking up just to talk to yourself and they gradually sleep a little later every day.
By the way - if I haven't already, I'll put the plug in for the best resource on baby sleep. It's a book called: Healthy Sleep, Happy Child - if you read it and do what it says.....it will change your life. Has with both of my boys. If you were here, I'd let you have a copy. I have 2....one to keep and one that I loan out to friends.
Anyway - good luck - it's all just trial and error isn't it. Wouldn't it be nice to have all the answers?
i wanted to tell you how much i loved the picture of wade & avery on your last post, but i wasn't sure if you would see it or not. we had such a great time visiting, we love little avery. hope to see you guys sometime this summer.
about the sleeping thing, well if it were me and she would go down at 7, i would put her down then. if you have to wake her for a feeding at 10 or 11, i would wake to feed her and then immediately put her back down. i think it'll make a better habit for the future. good luck though! every baby seems to be different.
