Surgery

Josh has a condition called Schatzki's ring, where he has extra tissue at the bottom of his esophagus. Every once in awhile, he has a hard time swallowing his food. He had a hard time on Sunday night at dinner. He tried to get the food out (I will spare you the details, if you want to know, ask Josh). But it didn't work. So we called our good friend the Richards to come over and sit with Avery. We went to the ER, they gave Josh some medicine with hope to help to him swallow. He was able to swallow, but it also made him sick. Once he threw up, they had to admit him to the hospital. By this time it was about 11, I was emotional and physically exhausted. I went home so the Richards could go home too. It was a long night without Josh.

In the morning, I called another wonderful friend, Anna. She said she could Avery all day! What a blessing to have such wonderful friends. I really felt like I should be there with Josh. He was in a lot of pain and discomfort. Yesterday afternoon, Josh had a upper EGD to stretch out his esophagus.  The procedure worked! He was able to be discharged from the hospital last night! It was a really long 24 hours. We are glad he is home!!!
